Who We Are & How We Help
Halcyon Home is a nonprofit organization committed to serving the needs of victims of domestic violence. Our team is composed of compassionate professionals, including counselors, advocates, legal experts, and volunteers, all dedicated to providing the highest level of care and support. We believe in the resilience of the human spirit and the power of community to foster healing and growth.
Since our founding, Halcyon Home has been a lifeline for countless individuals and families in crisis. Through our programs and services, we have helped victims find safety, gain independence, and build new lives free from abuse. Our success stories are a testament to the strength and resilience of those we serve and the power of community support.
Our Mission
Halcyon Home’s mission is to provide a safe haven and comprehensive support services for women and children who have been affected by domestic violence. We strive to raise community awareness and promote education to prevent and break the cycle of violence. Our goal is to foster an environment of encouragement, compassion, and support, empowering those we serve to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
Meet Our Founder
Karyl Chastain Beal
Karyl Chastain Beal founded Halcyon Home out of a desire to help those in need. Her journey began when a close friend confided in her about a terrifying experience with her husband. Karyl was determined to help her friend and her children escape the abusive situation. However, she quickly discovered that there were no local resources in Thomasville.
As she shared her friend’s story with others, Karyl was struck by how many had also endured abuse. This realization highlighted the critical need for a local shelter in Thomasville. Determined to make a difference, Karyl began reaching out to the community for support, and in 1994, Halcyon Home was born.
